On October 22, 2021, we received two gorgeous and precious little girls. Brynlee was just one week shy of turning 2, and Zayda was 10 months old. We have had the honor of keeping these babies physically, spiritually, and emotionally safe and sound for three and a half years. Watching these two grow up in our home and with our church family has been the biggest joy of our lives. But watching their mother, Daydrianna, wrestle with gaining the upper hand in addiction recovery has been miraculous. From the beginning, through the fog, her beautiful personality gleamed through, and we could see a mother who desperately loved her girls and desired them to have safety and stability. At every court date, we would see Daydrianna from afar… we would watch her, pray for her, and silently cheer her on to be the best version of herself so she could earn her girls back. As the months progressed, Daydrianna and her mother eventually learned to trust that we were here to support her with unconditional love. There was no judgment on our part; we were simply holding space for her girls until she was ready to step back in.
After several years and thousands—no joke, thousands—of prayers for Daydrianna to be redeemed, we witnessed this beautiful young woman make the brave and conscious decision to clean up, take ownership of her life, and be the mother she was called to be. She built a network—a community—around her that would love and support her and Brandon as they deserved. From our perspective, she let the Lord in. All her supports, which she has humbly accepted, are a gift from the Lord. It has been hard work on both her and Brandon’s part, but still the hope of a treasured family in the end.
Though it was very hard to experience the girls leaving our home, we are even more blessed to stay in relationship with Daydrianna and her family. We still get to love on these girls, now going on 5 and 6! With FaceTimes several times a week and even weekend visits almost monthly, we still get to be a part of their lives and watch them thrive.
Trusting in the Lord with the fate of Daydrianna and her beautiful girls has been so rewarding. We are blessed to witness her amazing growth and transformation into the person she is today
Our relationship with Daydrianna and her family is very special and extremely unusual. Typically, foster parents are viewed as the enemy or resented by biological families. But thankfully, Daydrianna and her family—particularly her mother and her newlywed husband—have received us with open arms. They have extended a love to us that we have never experienced with other families. We were invited to her and Brandon’s wedding and even got to love on and care for their newest member, Levi! It has been an honor to bless Daydrianna by caring for her two little ladies these last 3 ½ years, but the blessing she is giving us in return is immensely appreciated. We don’t have to close a chapter of our life; instead, we get to continue the journey alongside her!
