We are here to help!
Moms Adopting Moms is a 501(c)(3) approved nonprofit organization located in Clarke County, Georgia dedicated to improving the lives of children in the foster care system, their biological families and their foster parents by cultivating a peer mentoring relationship between the mothers that will help them through reunification and beyond.
Moms Adopting Moms received their 501c3 determination letter on December 24th, 2024, which made our non-profit status retroactive to our incorporation date of October 11, 2023. We are so excited to offer you many options regarding how you can give to support our mission. Please visit our Donate tab above to find out your options for giving and know in advance that your gift will help us help families reunite faster and more successfully so THANK YOU!
Moms Adopting Moms will offer a variety of services through a program we are calling "e"Mom. It is our aim to:
"e"stablish our business, determine our goals, mission, vision, and overall strategy and regularly review our activities toward those ends to make sure they align with the work we set out to accomplish
"e"mploy a terrific staff who are focused on serving children in need and their biological and foster parents through our expanded partnership parenting model. This includes recruiting a group of the most passionate, driven and exceptional bio mom peer mentors, ambassadors, interns and board members to manage the day-to-day operations and oversight of the organization. In the future we hope to have family lawyers onboard to represent our bio moms in court and through the TPO/divorce process (if required due to abuse) as well as those that can handle appeals when necessary. Moms Adopting Moms is currently seeking interns, volunteers (ambassadors) and also potential bio mom peer mentors in the areas where we serve locally. Please contact us for more information.
"e"ngage with supporters, faith-based organizations, other non-profits, the Department of Family and Child Services (DFCS), Court Appointed Special Advocates, Family Preservation Teams, Government Officials at the local, state and federal levels. We have begun to partner with multiple organizations in region 5 and will expand to region 2 in 2025. Currently we are taking regular referrals from DFCS in Jackson, Clarke and Madison counties and have women we are also assisting in multiple other counties in Northeast Georgia. Our partners include the Home in Five, the Athens Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club, The Five Hive, Reboot Jackson, ARC, Freedom from Bondage, Chosen for Life, Nations Church and many others. Contact us or fill out our partner request form to find out more how you can collaborate with us.
"e"mpathize with bio moms with kids in care and foster moms who look after those kids. We've been there and through peer mentor relationships we will make sure every bio mom and foster mom knows that! (Our founder is a former foster mom and our co-founder was the bio mom of the kids that came into our founders care twice over a five-year period. Upon the second successful reunification, our founder became the godparent of our co-founders' children, and they have never looked back. No more broken hearts and having to say good-bye foster parents! We get you and the struggles you face. Farewells are a thing of the past. It's only "See you later!" with Moms Adopting Moms.
"e"ncourage, love on, assist, help and recognize achievements and the details of our ladies lives including birthdays, anniversaries, recovery milestones and more. We have started monthly peer mentor zoom foster mom mentor meetings, have quarterly bio mom pizza dinners, will offer our first kids free parents night out in March of 2025, have helped raise money for rent, drug tests, Christmas presents, groceries, diapers, clothes and much more. We also continue to encourage, support, assist and provide advice for moms and dads via our FB group page located here: www.facebook.com/groups/momsadoptingmoms - JOIN US!
"e"ducate each client we work with on resources available to them by leveraging technology to search, analyze, catalogue, clean and surface the results through an easily accessible, fun and interactive User Experience. Add Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning to lower the cost of human curation of data. We have had volunteers from Microsoft working on our Journey Home App which will surface these results as well as a fantastic group of students from UGA working on a prototype demo right now that we can hopefully get funding to take live by 2027. We also have begun discussions with partner schools and colleges in our area to provide education services and job training as necessary to all moms. Last year Moms Adopting Moms with the help of AT&T and the Home in Five was given eleven laptops for our moms to use to pursue higher education and job training.
"e"quip women to work with partner organizations to get what is needed to whom needs it. when they need it. This covers everything from food pantries to clothes closets to medical assistance, beds and vehicles. Our UGA partner intern regularly posts updates in our FB group page on assistance available to moms in the local area. This will eventually all be located as well through the Journey Home app, in an offline binder and digitally as well.
"e"mpower women to not be afraid to go after their dream career. Train and coach them to achieve their goals and succeed in their chosen field. Moms Adopting Moms peer mentors meet with each bio mom to discuss their career goals, their dream jobs and the steps it will take to achieve these positions. Each month will have a custom plan in place to get her from where she is now to where she wants to be through the Journey Home app. We will also assist men in learning new trades and at the same time mentoring and encouraging them through the purchase and fix-up of donated vehicles that can be restored and sold to a bio family in need.
"e"nrich womens' lives by teaching them how to budget and spend wisely, save and get out of debt. We also believe in giving each mom experiences they may have never taken part in before to learn new things and to discover a different part of the world than what they are used to. This could involve gardening or music, art or theater, learning a new language or skill or taking a trip to another culture to volunteer. Finance classes are being offered twice yearly. Contact us to find out the date of the next offering. Any mom requesting services or referred to us will be required to take these classes. There are cash incentives for all bio moms completing the class series that can be applied toward application fees for housing.
"e"nergize women to pursue strong physical and mental health for themselves and their children. Ensure doctor and dentist visits are scheduled and followed up on and mental health and counseling needs are not ignored but embraced. (Peer mentors and foster mom mentors will be trained to educate, encourage and hold accountable all bio moms in our program to ensure these basic needs are met for each mom and their children).
"e"vangelize our work to as many people as possible, in as many locations as possible as quickly as possible and by so doing put an end to the foster care crisis and the broken foster care system through the use of our shared model.
